True Grit by Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, 2010 (PG-13)

with Jeff Bridges (Tron: Legacy), Hailee Steinfeld, Matt Damon (Invictus, Margaret, Hereafter, The Adjustment Bureau, We Brought a Zoo, The Informant!), Josh Brolin (Milk, American Gangster, Men In Black 3), Barry Pepper (Enemy of the State), Dakin Matthews, Paul Rae, Domhnall Gleeson (Anna Karenina), Elizabeth Marvel

After drifter Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin) murders her father, 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) hires alcoholic U.S. Marshal Reuben "Rooster" Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) to help her exact revenge. The disreputable lawman still has grit, though, and mounts an epic search. Joining the duo on their quest is a Texas Ranger (Matt Damon) who's also hunting for Chaney in this updated Western that received multiple Oscar nods, including Best Picture.

Ouh, she's good, Hailee Steinfeld, she's good! It took me the first half of the movie to get her accent, deep deep past America. The men are full of testosterone, almost funny, of course it is perfectly acted. The ambient is well portrayed, cinematography impeccable, from the feeling of cold winter to the extreme heat of West. The strength of the main character Mattie Ross makes the movie interesting, because the story has some stretches and the story isn't very complex.
